LAHORE: A special anti-terrorism court on Friday issued arrest warrants for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members over terrorism charges.

As per details, the Police had appealed in the court for the arrest of PTI leaders on charges of vandalism during the long march on May 25.

The court has issued arrest warrants for PTI leaders Shafqat Mehmood, Hammad Azhar, Ijaz Chaudhry, Dr Yasmeen Rashid and others.

As the development came in, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry lambasted the incumbent government over its tactics against PTI adding that Modi has been filing cases against the Kashmiris while in Pakistan, Modi’s business partners (Sharifs) have been issuing arrest warrants for PTI leaders with terrorism charges.

“We strongly condemn this nonsense,” he added.

Hassan Khawar also said that the issuance of arrest warrants against unarmed PTI leaders by imposing terrorism provisions shows the government’s bewilderment.

“The government cannot stop the real liberation movement with such tactics.”

On the other hand, the PML-N coalition government endorsed the good performance of PTI when it Thursday unveiled the important budgetary document of ‘Pakistan Economic Survey 2021-22, showing a robust GDP growth rate of 5.9pc.

However, Minister for Finance and Revenue Miftah Ismail termed the GDP growth rate of 5.97 percent during the outgoing fiscal year unsustainable as the country needed to stabilize the economy before moving towards sustainable growth.
