ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the Federal Cabinet was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

PM Shehbaz reviewed the overall political and economic situation of the country. Whereas, rise in inflation, escalation on petrol prices and electricity rates were also considered.

The decisions of the Cabinet Economic Liaison Committee and reports of the Legislative Committee were ratified by PM Shehbaz. PM said that he is not in favour of raising prices but it is a compulsion.

However, Finance Minister Miftah Ismail was lashed out by the ministers for further increases in oil, gas and electricity prices. He was severely castigated in the cabinet meeting and faced sharp blows from the ministers.

Finance Minister said that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has made it clear that if the subsidy is not removed, the installment will not be released.

On the other hand, PM Shehbaz said that India had unleashed its brute and oppressive apparatus to browbeat Indian Muslims into submission.Commenting on the unabated persecution of Muslims in India by the Narendra Modi-led regime pursuing the Hindutva ideology, the prime minister said the whole plan was to further marginalise the Indian Muslims politically, economically and culturally.

He added, “The whole plan is to further marginalise them politically, economically & culturally. The reality of India’s “democratic face” is before the world to see.”
