    ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Friday barred the law enforcement authorities from arresting former interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed after approving his interim bail in another case.

IHC Chief Justice Athar Minuallah directed the interior secretary to provide details related to Sheikh Rashid Ahmed cases. The petitioner told the court that after getting bail in as many as four cases related to long march, another case has been put against.

The Awami Muslim League head said that he is still a member of national assembly as no notification has been issued regarding his resignation.

Meanwhile, A district court in Attock on Monday approved a two-day physical remand of former interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed’s nephew Rashid Shafiq.

As per details privy to the matter, Rashid Shafiq’s physical remand for two days was approved by the duty judge. He was presented before Judicial Magistrate Jamal Mahmood in Attock District Court by the police to seek his physical remand for seven days for his alleged involvement in the Madinah incident.

Strict security arrangements were made inside and around the court and a heavy contingent of police was deployed on the occasion.

Rashid Shafiq will be presented before the court on the second day of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Notably, he was arrested by a team of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from Islamabad airport as soon as he returned after performing Umrah.

He was arrested on blasphemy charges for his alleged role in a protest against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his cabinet members at the holy mosque of Madinah on Sunday.
