ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Athar Minallah on Wednesday dismissed the petition of Leader of the Opposition in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh seeking his protective bail.
A lawyer of Haleem Adil Sheikh had filed a plea in the high court seeking his client’s pre-arrest bail, so that he could attend the Sindh Assembly meeting.
While hearing the petition, the IHC CJ said he had already given the PTI leader protective bail in a separate case for three weeks.
However, he said, Haleem Sheikh would have to appear before the relevant court during the period of the bail.
Justice Athar Minallah suggested the veteran politician to approach the Sindh High Court as his case was beyond his jurisdiction.
On May 15, Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leader Chaudhry Fawad Hussain had said police mobile vans had reached house of PTI MPA and Leader of Opposition in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh in Karachi to arrest him.
Fawad Chaudhry had written this sharing a video of some police officials gathered outside a house.
Meanwhile, Haleem Adil had tweeted, “We are unsafe! They are raiding my home!!”
His daughter, Ayesha Adil Sheikh had alleged that police were trying to forcibly enter their house. “We are at home can someone do something,” she had asked in a tweet.
A verified Twitter account of the PTI had said, “Sindh Police has just conducted a raid at Haleem Adil’s home – May Allah protect him and his family!”
