Mir Jan Muhammad Jamali elected speaker Balochistan Assembly

Mir Jan Muhammad Jamali of Balochistan Awami Party was elected new speaker of the provincial assembly, reported Radio Pakistan on Saturday.

The state media said that Jamali was elected unopposed after as no other candidate filed nomination papers against him.

The office of speaker had fallen vacant after of Abdul Quddus Bizanjo resigned to contest the elections for Balochistan chief minister.

Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo takes oath as Balochistan CM

Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo took oath as the 18th Chief Minister of the province on Thursday after he was elected unopposed in the provincial assembly.

The CM was elected unopposed after Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) parliamentary leader Sardar Yar Mohammad Rind pulled out of the race.

Earlier, Balochistan Assembly Deputy Speaker Sardar Babar Musakhel announced that Bizenjo had received 39 votes during the symbolic elections held in the provincial legislature.
