Nimra Kazmi case: SHC orders medical test, hearing adjourned till June 2

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Monday directed the provincial authorities to conduct medical test of Nimra Kazmi to ascertain age to assess the legality of her marriage.

The court also ordered authorities to put Kazmi at a shelter home until the result of the medical test. In today’s hearing, Justice Iqbal Kulhoro inquired with Kazmi in what class she studies. She replied: “Matric”. The judge responded that she must be around 14-15 years old then. Kazmi said that her parents registered her underage and that can be proven through medical test.

Kazmi’s marraige will stand null and void if proven that she was below 18 at the time of her Nikkah. As according to official document, Kazmi was born on May 6, 2008. The court has allowed Kazmi’s parents to meet her.

The court barred police to present challan before the medical test report and adjourned the hearing till June 2.

Nimra Kazmi got married to an individual named Najeeb Shahrukh  on April 18th in Dera Ghazi Khan. The 14-year-old teenager who went missing from Saudabad area of Malir district  contacted her mother via Facebook, reported Bol News. In her messages she requested the parents not to look for her as she escaped from her residence to marry the person of her choice.

The girl maintained that nobody abducted her and she left the place to tie the knot. The police have also learnt that the girl was in contact with two boys named Shahrukh and Ali through PUBG game.

The police was informed by the mother that she went outside on April 20 for a while and upon returning she came to know that her daughter was missing. However, upon investigation, the police found out that the girl was missing for about a week.
