No talks without announcement of next polls: Sheikh Rashid

  • Sheikh Rashid demands election date for dialogue
  • He blamed PM and CM for the current situation
  • Rashid also claims that he can foresee elections this year

ISLAMABAD: Former Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid said Monday that the only possibility of talks between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is the announcement of the date for the next general polls.

While talking to media, Sheikh Rashid opined that PTI Chief Imran Khan would not agree to the dialogue without the announcement of elections from the opposite camp.

Touching on the next action plan of PTI regarding the sit-in to protest against the government, Rashid said that Imran Khan will announce the strategy after the budget.

Sheikh Rashid lambasted the strategies of the incumbent government by saying that there is no such thing as the government in the country right now.

He poured scorn on the prime minister and Chief Minister Punjab Hamza Shehbaz adding that the father and son duo has taken over the federation and one province.

Rashid also claimed that the PTI-led government strived hard to bring Pakistan out of the FATF grey list but the mission will be accomplished during the tenure of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government.

Furthermore, he claimed during his address that he can foresee the elections in the ongoing year.

Earlier, he warned the government of a possible protest by the nation after the massive hike announced by the federation in petrol, gas and electricity.

The former interior minister also highlighted that the trade deficit has increased by 60% and foreign exchange reserves are only Rs 9 billion. “With the increase in petrol price, the electricity tariff also increased by Rs 8 per unit,” he wrote on Twitter.

He opined that the takeover of the PML-N-led government has pushed the country towards a grave economic crisis and warned that the nation will be on the roads soon to mourn the incumbent government and its policies.
