KARACHI: Sindh Police on Wednesday arrested over 50 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf workers including coordinator of former federal minister Faisal Vawda in a bid to halt momentum of party’s Azadi March at Numaish Chowrangi.
The law enforcement arrested five people including Member National Assembly Saif ur Rehman and his coordinator from Karachi East, four from Malir, four from Karachi West including MNA Ataullah, three from District Central including party’s former secretary general, 13 from Keemari including Vawda’s coordinator, 11 from Karachi South including MNA Aftab Siddiqui’s nephew, and nine from Old City Area.
The Sindh police also raided the residence of MPA Rabistan Khan and MNA Abdul Shakoor Shad, and arrested as many as three workers from Shah Faisal Colony. Meanwhile, Sindh Police have informed that PTI member Saifur Rehman and Ataullah have been given jail custody.
Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has appealed the workers, supporters and people from all walks of life to join him at D-Chowk Islamabad by 3 pm today, Bol News reported. Imran Khan in a video message issued from Peshawar urged the general public particularly from Islamabad and Rawalpindi to reach the D-Chowk to get their real independence.
The PTI chief said that he would reach the Islamabad D-Chowk via Kashmir Road. The former premier had earlier announced that he would meet his followers at Islamabad’s Srinagar Highway on May 25.
