Tahari rice Recipe


1. Oil ½ cup
2. Onion sliced 2 medium
3. Bay leaf 1
4. Cinnamon sticks 2
5. Black pepper corn 7-8
6. Cumin seeds 1tsp
7. Cloves 5-6
8. Black cardamom 2
9. Ginger garlic paste 2tbs
10. Tomato chopped 3-4 medium
11. Salt 3tsp or to taste
12. Red chili powder 2-3tsp or to taste
13. Turmeric powder 1/2tsp
14. Yogurt 1/2cup whisked
15. Potatoes 2-3 large (half boiled)
16. Green peas 1cup (half boiled)
17. Water 2&1/2 cup or as needed
18. Rice 500gms (soaked for 35-45 mins)
19. Green chilies 3-4 or as per taste
20. Fresh coriander 1/4cup
21. Whole spice powder 1tsp
22. Nutmeg & mace powder 1/2tsp


1. In pot, add oil and onion,saute little.
2. Add bay leaf,cinnamom stick,black pepper corns,cumin,cloves and black cardamom,saute mix it.
3. Add ginger garlic paste and saute well.
4. Add tomatoes and give ita a good mix.
5. Add salt,red chili powder and turmeric powder,mix it
6. Now add yogurt and mix well.
7. Add potatoes (half boiled) and green peas (half boiled),mix it and add water,bring it to boil.
8. Add rice (soaked for 35-45 mins),mix it and cook on high flame until water dries up.
9. Add green chilies,fresh coriander,whole spice powder,nutmeg & mace powder, cover and simmer for 15minutes.
10. Serve.
