Three accused have reportedly been arrested in an alleged train’s gang-raped case.
Earlier, Bol TV reported that two ticket-checkers and their in-charge gang-raped a woman while she was traveling by the Bahauddin Zakariya Express.
Karachi City Station police registered a case against the suspects on the complaint of the woman.
As per the FIR, the incident took place on May 27 when the victim, who is resident of Orangi Town, Karachi, boarded the train from Multan railway station for Karachi.
The woman reportedly went to in-laws in Muzaffargarh to meet her children, the FIR said.
The FIR further stated that she purchased an economy class ticket for Karachi and when the Bahauddin Zakariya Express reached Rohri station, two ticket checkers and their in-charge allegedly lured her into a trap of offering a seat in the AC bogie.
The ticket checker – Zahid– and their in-charge, identified as Aqib, took the victim to an AC compartment of a bogie where they gang-raped her and fled the scene.
After reaching the Karachi railway station, the victim explained the ordeal to the police and lodged a case against the suspects.
However, Federal Minister for Railways Saad Rafique took notice of the incident and sought a report from Inspector General Police (IGP) railways within 24 hours.
Meanwhile, DS Railway Hamad Hasan Mirza has claimed that police have arrested two suspects involved in gang-rape of a Karachi woman.
“The suspects named in gang-rape case were employees of private company which is running Bahauddin Zakariya Express,” he told media, adding that they are not employees of Pakistan Railways.
A further investigation into the matter was underway, he added.
